Monday afternoon, my brother-in-law toured me around town to museum hop and see a few sights. We decided to check out the Viet Nam National Museum of Fine Arts (Bảo Tàng Mỹ Thuật Việt Nam) by the end of the day and thankfully got there within the last hour. It turned out that last hour wasn't enough to check out the entire museum, which I think was at least two buildings.
I went home with a growing obsession over the collection of lacquer on wood art I found in the gallery on the second floor. I've tried capturing on camera a few of my favorites, but you must already know—they are no substitute for the real thing.
Lacquer art is a famous ancient trade in Viet Nam and their Museum of Fine Arts house a huge collection of it from famous Vietnamese artists throughout the last century and before that.
Check out the carousel to find out more about the above works and the artists that made them.
